Yes, I’m very proud to present to you: SynoDownloader 1.0.
It has taken some three months of my very busy scheduled life, but finally, it has all the features I need.
SynoDownloader is a replacement for the Download Redirector application that is bundled with the Synology DiskStation and CubeStation. Since it’s lacking quite some features, I decided to create my own, better version, which enable you to use your DiskStation or CubeStation to it’s full potential.
Some of it’s features:
- Download Management
- Add URL from Clipboard
- Automatically download .torrent files
- Drop Zone
- Clipboard Monitor
- Site Manager (manage credentials per site)
- Search Engine
- FTP Browser
- RSS Feed Browser
Oh, and probably most important of all: it’s free!
Curious? Go to the SynoDownloader page to download.

People who are following the thread on the Synology Forums have probably also tried version 0.2 and 0.3, but to let you all know: Version 0.4 is available for download!
In the previous version the need for hacking your CubeStation was removed, since triad has hacked the admin password. So now it’s really Download & Play.
New in this version:
- New Name (since the application can be used for all Synology NAS products, not only the Cubestation).
- Sponsoring (Mobile-Harddisk.nl offered me some goodies for my hard work (hehe), and in return I mention their company every here and there).
- Drop Zone (check it out)
- Site Manager (Save credentials for ‘private’ domains and trackers)
- Search Favorites (Save your favorite search queries so you can easily recall them)
- MiniNova Search
- ‘Start with Windows’ option (in the preferences dialog)
RSS Feeds support has been dropped for now: most provided feeds are not completely RSS2.0 compatible, which makes it very hard to track if there are new entries. (To do so, I would need to save the history per feed in some location, which is quite a lot of work). As an alternative I provided the Search Favorites.
If anyone can tell me what they think about this alternative, or have an idea how to consume RSS-feeds: please do so at the Synology Forums!

I bought my Synology CubeStation 407e some months ago, and I really loved it’s versatility. It’s a very handy device, just for storage and has some really cool tools.
Although I’m not really a leecher (I *honestly* buy all movies I want to see (have about 200-250 DVD’s), buy cd-albums of bands I like and pay for (most of) software), I didn’t really like the Download Redirector application that was bundled with the cubestation. And since I’m a developer, I thought: I can do this better. And so I, sort of, did…
The result is a beta-version of the software. It isn’t really done yet, but I could use some user input so this is why I posted it to the community…
Anyhouse… just checkout the downloadpage and screenshots…

Yea, because I finished by new site, I thought it would also be good to release my ServiceDog. An application I wrote for a friend/webhostingprovider) of mine to check if al of his servers were online.
Although it was finished for quite some time, I didn’t find the time to publish it, so here it is now.

Well, I posted this application before on my personal blog. But since I created my own dev-blog, I decided to place this project also here, so here it is
To cut a long story short: TimeLapse is an application which helps you to create timelapse applications. Those ‘movies’ where you see an entire day flashing before your eyes in a few seconds.
Curious for more? Want to download it? Check this!
